Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong Wai-lun will lead a delegation of officials to Shenzhen today to discuss collaboration with local authorities on the city’s Northern Metropolis Development Strategy.
The meeting follows Chief Executive Lee Ka-chiu’s first visit to the Greater Bay Area last week.
The delegation includes Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan, and Secretary for Transport and Logistics Lam Sai-hung.
Others are Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui Ching-yu, Acting Secretary for Security Michael Cheuk Hau-yip, Undersecretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Raistlin Lau Chun and Undersecretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Lillian Cheong Man-lei.
The group will return to Hong Kong this evening.
On Thursday, Lee led four government officials to meet with Guangdong party secretary Huang Kunming and Guangdong governor Wang Weizhong in Guangzhou in the morning, and Shenzhen party secretary Meng Fanli and Shenzhen governor Qin Weizhong in Shenzhen in the afternoon. They discussed talent exchange, innovative technology application and financial services of high-quality development in the Greater Bay Area.
In a related development, Macau’s Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng visited Hong Kong on Saturday and met with Lee at the Government House.
Lee said they discussed future cooperation opportunities, adding that he will visit Macau on Thursday.
Lee said Hong Kong and Macau have been maintaining close cooperation in important areas including commerce, cross-boundary infrastructure and cultural tourism under the spirit of complementarity and with a view to jointly promoting the development of the Greater Bay Area.
Ho visited Science Park to learn more about the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation’s development and achievements in innovation and technology.
